I Am Terrible at Advertising (So I’m Giving Away a Book)
Let me start with the honest part.
I am absolutely terrible at advertising.
I learned how to build a website.
I learned how to write books.
I learned how to use a horrifying number of apps.
I learned how to design RPG systems, create monsters, format manuscripts, and publish them.
I am also a nurse, a mom, a dog mom, and a wife.
But advertising?
Advertising is its own cursed dungeon.
And I am currently level 1.
So instead of pretending I know what I’m doing, I decided to try the ancient and powerful marketing strategy known as:
“Please take my book.”
Which is why I am running a Houses & Humans giveaway.
One person will win a copy of The Brain Monster Codex, a darkly funny RPG-style survival manual for dealing with the chaos of adulthood and the even bigger chaos inside your own brain.
Wait… What Is Houses & Humans?
Houses & Humans is a strange little world I built where:
-
Adult life is a campaign
-
Your brain is sometimes the final boss
-
Laundry is a monster encounter
-
Doing dishes earns experience points
-
And coping skills are disguised as spells
The books mix:
-
dark humor
-
fantasy RPG mechanics
-
real coping strategies
-
and the deeply suspicious experience known as being a human adult
It’s basically CBT disguised as a monster manual.
Because sometimes laughing at the dungeon makes it easier to survive it.
Why the Giveaway?
Because I want people to find this weird world.
And also because Google apparently likes words like:
-
fantasy RPG books
-
dark humor books
-
mental health humor
-
neurodivergent humor
-
self-help for people who hate self-help
-
fantasy mental health books
-
adulting survival guide
So here they are.
Look at me doing SEO magic.
Join the Houses & Humans Cult
Okay technically it is not a cult.
It is more of a loosely organized group of adventurers trying to survive modern life.
But if you join the mailing list you will get:
-
weird monster lore
-
new quests
-
darkly funny coping tricks
-
updates on new books and campaigns
-
occasional evidence that the Brain Monster is lying again
Which honestly feels very cult-adjacent, but in a friendly way.

The giveaway ends soon.
Because I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing and at some point I will panic and launch the next chaotic idea.
Final Words From the Dungeon
If your brain sometimes acts like a dramatic narrator of doom…
If adulthood feels suspiciously like a campaign you did not agree to…
If you have ever thought
"I should get experience points for surviving today"…
You might be one of us.
Welcome to the dungeon.
